I am a Life Coach who specializes in mindfulness. I also help recovering addicts by leading "Mindfulness of Music" sessions at Serenity Vista International Holistic Addiction Treatment Center. In addition, I am co-team leader of the Magic of Music Team at Boquete Health & Hospice - utilizing music in a wellness capacity to reduce patient anxiety and facilitate palliative care. I recently authored a new book based on all of this work "Music Wellness: How to Use Music for Improved Health and Well-Being". Through my work coaching individuals, helping recovering addicts, and helping to care for those in my community who turn to the health & hospice organization for support, the core focus of my work is to dramatically improve the quality of life by focusing the mind in the present moment - right here, right now!
I am a normal guy in many ways. I started off on a typical path in life: college, grad school, marriage, children, career. But my life journey hasn't been easy. I spent most of my career in the high-stress tech industry in the metro area of Denver, Colorado. My personal life saw much turmoil. I went through a divorce and subsequent bankruptcy. And soon after, my family was dealt a horrible blow when my 32-year-old sister was murdered. That tragedy sent me into a downward spiral of addiction. Things got so low that at one point, I attempted suicide. Through it all I maintained a successful career, despite the ups and downs of the tech industry, which included a layoff during the dot com crash quite a few years back.
At night and on the weekends, I was very active creatively, which turned out to be very therapeutic for me. I am a musician who has played on over a dozen studio albums, played countless live shows, and also taught music lessons out of my home at night for over 20 years in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Based on my experience both as a song writer and music teacher, I authored a song-writing book, "Express Yourself: Song Writing for Everyone". Creativity remains an important part of my life, and not just with music. I also write poetry, essays, and create video artwork to use in live musical performances.
I was able to bounce back from the low points of life, was able to beat my addictions, and was successful enough in my tech career to retire early at age 53 to a tropical paradise. I figured out how to BLOOM! My life now is the happiest it has ever been. I have learned that transformation is indeed possible!
Though retired from my tech career, I work part-time using mindfulness and music at Serenity Vista International Holistic Addiction Treatment Center to help folks struggling with addiction put their lives back together. And I volunteer in my community using mindfulness and music together at a local Health & Hospice organization to help my neighbors. If you use the Insight Timer meditation app, you can also follow me there for additional resources to help your mindfulness and meditation practices. And, of course, I do one-on-one Life Coaching. Nothing is more important and rewarding in my life than helping others. How can I help you?
